So after months of drawing and then days of collating and then more days of waiting for the test print to arrive, I have finally published my zine "Gnar Trek" for general release

Gnar Trek It is 20 pages of glossy portraits of star trek characters and is well worth the 6 dollars asking price (i think).

I used magcloud to make all this happen. Magcloud is an on demand magazine publishing service and is a project of HP Labs. I found it much cheaper and easier to use than services like lulu due in no small part to the fact that the publishing options are limited to letter size magazine format.  I'm not complaining though I found the whole process quick and easy the only down side was the lead time to get my test copy printed and then shipped to glasgow.

I think on demand services like this have a lot of potential for artists, my work is mostly digital and so having the oppurtinty to get a hard copy without having to order a batch of 1000 is pretty great.

Even though Gnar Trek is available to anyone, anywhere, anytime I am not convinced that I will sell more through mag cloud than the one i already have (thanks Tom).  So I will still be ordering a bulk load to try and palm them off on any and all galleries and book shops that will stock them.  Does this defeat the point? I'm not sure, probably, but just because the internet can buy my zine doesn't mean they will, or should.
